hmmm.....a friends ford, with a dodgy rattle

I was asked to do this by a friend, i told him he should've bought a vauxhall..lol

Anyway, the problem is top end rattle, the engine is a 1.3 HCS, the car is an 'L' reg. Normally I would think its the tappets, but it sounds like something is about to jump out the top end, it sounds like a feckin bus..lol

Its sounds as if someones chucked a bag of nuts and bolts into the filler cap?:cry:

I could be mistaken, but didn't they call it the Endura-E engine? Or is this one really noisy?

Yes its amazingly noisy, i've had a few fords, but never heard them make that kind of top end rattle :cry:

I've had/heard heaps of fords with the 1100/1300cc engine, and they ALL sounded really noisy/rattly. I thought this was pretty much the norm though.

Everyone i've asked/spoken to says it's the tappets.
