What condition are the doors in, particularly the drivers door?

What condition are the doors in, particularly the drivers door?

Both doors look fine

The drivers door has a couple of very very small dents you notice if you squint down the side, and a very slight scrape near the back door below the trim line.

The passenger door has one very very minor dent near the mirror (again only visible when you search for it)

If you were going to get them repainted then a bodyshop would get both doors up to 100%. There is no rust along the bottom of the doors. There is only a tiny bit of surface rust on the drivers door in the bottom corner on the window. can easliy be fixed with a reapray.

Basiaclly If you have a Mistral grey Cav and wanted a straight s*** because yours are rusty and accident damaged they could go straight on.

You are welcome to come and look at any time. Be quick though, I have nearly finished the stripdown and any bits not sold will be craned onto the back of a lorry this weekend and taken away as scrap.

Best to call or text me if you can, as I will be unable to answer questions on here on Wednesday & Thursday (Until thursday evening anyway)

Why does the word 's w o p' get *** out?

ADA-V

Offers? Last time I broke a Cav a couple of years ago that was the going rate I think. Not too many Cavs have the 4 way switch so they are a bit harder to pick up from the breakers yards.

got a pic of the grille

Pics are a bit of a problem right now. I use a works Laptop and have just been upgraded to windows XP and I lost a lot of programmes in the changover.

I need to find out how to download the software for my digital camera again and being a bit thick as far as computers go I need to contact my brother in law to help me again.

Will be back on line with pics as soon as I can.:Cool2:

That reminds me, I lost my link to Tinypics who I used to download my images.:shame: Does anyone have a link?

Stripped it down a bit more today and found a couple of other bits that may be of use to someone.

Some internal bits of trim that are in good condition

Fuse box cover £5
Glove box £5
Bit of trim goes underneath/behind the glove box in 100% condition with clips £5
Carpeted cover between passenger seat and door great condition £5
Passenger front door seal. (Have not checked the rears yet) £5

Let me know if there are any other bits letting your interior down, a lot of the bits were not too bad.

Please ask if there is anything else you need. :)

what kind of a deal can you do me on the 4 way switch, rear elecy window motors, looms and switchs. basically everything i need to fit them into my car. plus please could you get the postage cost to kettering northants

Brian Stirrup
17-01-2006, 05:33 PM
I gather you dont have electric rear windows at the moment.

I have not removed any of the wiring I presume it will go into the fusebox first then onto the switch. Would you also need the centre consul to fit the bigger switch or is the cars with just front electric windows use the same size block just without the rear switches?

The car is still here and the dash is out so getting to the wiring is not a problem but we need to talk so I can find out what you need. I am sure we can come to some agreement on price. :)

give me a call or an email so we can discuss what you need.

do u still have the gearbox? i so what condition is it in, how many miles?
I will hopefully be aquiring a gsi engine 16v end of month and need gearbox, complete with loom etc etc

Brian Stirrup
22-01-2006, 10:09 AM
Yes I do have the gearbox. It is in very good condition, the car had 125000 miles on the clock. I drove it home and found the gearbox very smooth. I have an XE in my Astra so have something to compare, I was even going to keep this gearbox and s*** it with the one in my Astra it is that good, but at the moment I need the money more as I have a porous head in the Astra I need to get sorted.

This gearbox did not even crunch when I put it in reverse unlike my Astra. ;)

Can you do pics yet Brian? I am very interested in the bootlid and could collect it. Have you taken the panel off to check the condition behind... mine is rusting around the hole where the lock/release button fits as well as the usual place along the bottom.

Thanks,
Matt.

Brian Stirrup
01-02-2006, 06:28 PM
Here are some pics. I will check behind the panel and get back to you but it is solid along the bottom, not a sign of rust. The paintwork is not mint, there is aome very light scratches but very good for 14 year old paint. There are some bigger scratches inside the boot where something has been moving around in the boot I guess, but they are not rusted.

Brian Stirrup

Behand the panel is great, there is only a very small patch near the lock hole that was black like it has been treated before. I have just put some rust remedy over it anyway just in case.
