So I'm driving along into town along a dual carriageway and this zafira is glued to my ass. I tried all the usual things to shake him, slowing down gently, speeding up tapping the brakes for second, putting on the hazards and rear fogs and he was still right up my ass. So on approach to a roundabout instead of slowing down gently I rolled up and hit the brakes. Now I didn't slam them on proper hard style, just braked a tad harder than you usually would and didn't come to a stop. I see the zafira's headlights dip way down and out of view behind my boot and continue on my way (as I said still rolling) and notice the guy has stalled the zafira by the way he's not moving and his lights went out as he starts it up. Anyways a couple seconds later matey's in the lane next to me window down and all so I wind down my window "you're lucky I didn't slam into the back of you" So I was like "you're lucky you didn't slam into the back of me" And he goes into a tyrate of abuse about how I slammed the brakes on and stopped 20 meters before the line (it was more like slowing down 10 meters before the line and no stopping at all). So I just told him to read the highway code (in a slightly more colourful way) and that if he's ever up my ass like that again I'll use the handbrake to stop. I was absoloutely fuming!

morons ...

 nice enough to think about doing with a £500 Cav ... but after the usual tricks you tried, I normally dive into the next bus stop or layby, let him past, immediately join back behind him and sit literally inches away from his bumper for a few moments before backing off and taking (the rather late I suppose) moral high ground ...

Shocking though that he had a go at you, if he wasn't on your arse then he would of had no probs!!

Exactly. If I had've slammed my brakes on and come to a full stop he'd have written 2 cars off, baring in mind it was very wet lastnight. It just rags me off people think they own the road. :grrr

Haha this always gets on my nerves too and if you accelerate a little to get them off your ass, they accelerate too, thinking a race is ensuing, a hackney cab failed to overtake in a crawler lane and he decide to stick to my ass i braked and i saw him behind me braking heavily and swirving from side to side. I get it all the time :lmao:

Makes it mad too when people sit so darn close. Had it a few days ago with 3 lads on mopeds, stuck right behind me at 30+. When the road narrowed down due to parked cars, the oncoming traffic decided it was their right of way I had had to brake harder than I might do normally and heard the squeal of tyres behind, then squeals/laughter as the 3 lads thought it was cool/funny, they would no doubt have not been so keen had they come off or gone into the back of my Astra.

Its so stupid when they do it, had it in a work car on the M25 at motorway speed a few months back. When summit happened in front of me, I rightly slammed the anchors on and watched in the rear view as the stupid girl out in mummys cars colour drained from her face as tire smoke engulfed the front of her car from the front wheel arch's, Had I not got of the brakes then, it would have been a high speed colision, and as the car i was in was a vw golf, I aint so sure the rear wheels would turn after as they so close the the cars tail! You could bet they would say no way it would cause whiplash though!

something i think that happens to us all at some point! i have great fun in the omega now i have her back. Wait for some pratt to do that kind of thing, let them overtake me and whilst doing so, put on the works hi vis jacket, and flash the headlights in time. Seems to confuse them and i can't understand why!!
People like this need the short sharp shock treatment imho!

I have a habit of doing that too. Other things I do that I probably shouldn't are:-

1/ When somebody decides to pull out in front of me at the last minute on a roundabout I speed up then slam on at the last minute. The look of sheer terror and panic on the dopey arsehole's face is always more than worth it.

2/When someone hogs the middle lane of the motorway, doing around 65mph and blantatly overtaking nothing I shoot right up the back of them, flash my lights, beep my horn and then hammer past them in the right hand lane. You wouldn't believe how many people I see on the M61 and M60 at 6am on a Saturday morning sat in the middle lane WITH NO OTHER CARS EXCEPT FOR ME IN SIGHT!!!!.

3/ If someone indicates to let me know they wish to change lane, I let them in. If they can't be arsed indicating but obviously want to change lane I will purposely close the gap between me and the car in front so they can't. I also won't move to accomodate the pillocks who leave it until the very last minute to go from the outside lane to the exit sliproad.

4/ I laugh heartily at those who slow down for the SPECS cameras on the M62 and then speed up as soon as they've passed the camera. There's a series of cameras that measure the time it takes you to pass each one and derives your average speed from it, hence your instantaneous speed as you pass the camera is irrelevant. Time to give Gordie Brown another £60 of your hard earned and drop three points you besuited Beamer driving ******.

I have to say I do exactly what you do on number 1 and 3. I hate people who don't give way on roundabouts. I also shout "indi-****in-cate you twat" at all the people who turn left at a roundabout without indicating and there's me sat like a knob expecting them to go straight on so giving way.

Eh i get it all the time... to be honest i just carry on most of the time and ignore them!
Altho sometimes if ive had a bad day etc then i will slow down, or as mentioend a few times close the gap on someone trying to get in etc.....
The amount of times i have nearly been hit or blown my horn at ppl and they always look as tho its my fault!
For instance a mondeo pulls out from a side street straight in front of me, slam on the Brakes, ABS kicks in... he just sits there giving me mouth...
Come to a very tiny round-about on my road which is basically a T jucntion.. indicate right just about to start turning as am already there and car comes straight on and over narrowly missing me.. blow my horn get a torrent of abuse back.... as far as im concerned if someone hits me up the ass its there mistake , and will get a smack for the honour of it!

Nothing's worse than when you slow down and flash someone who's waiting to turn and they don't move :grrr

I gave up on them ******s. I normally drive in the left hand lane, doing around 80 (providing there is no traffic) and I used to go all the way to the right hand lane to overtake the middle lane hogger who's doing 65/70 but now I don't bother anymore, I just zoom past them in the left hand lane.

ditto !

your on a dual carrage way and you know that thing next to you want that junction... but it wants to get in front of you and turn off with less than 100yrds to go, its great fun

i have a habit of slowing right down and if its coming up to traffic lights hold back to see if they are going to change, if the amber shows toe down and leave him with a red

I especially love deliberately cutting up people who turn right from the left hand lane on a duel carriageway roundabout. Despite road markings and lane indications that tell them what lane to be in. I see them in my mirror as they come a hammering up the left hand side trying to do a sneaky undertake and I indicate left and plonk myself right in front of them

Having driving jobs for the past five years straight gives you a nose for just who's gonna attempt this little trick, well maybe not, just pay attention to any badly modded Saxos/Corsas/Puntos and any expensive executive saloon where the suit wearing nobjockey driving it has his phone glued to his ear.

Hehe, also despite the derision the Ecotec gets sometimes, it's still got some bollocks when accelerating. Practically every tosser that hogs my arse around the roundabout quickly disappears in my rear view as soon as I'm on the slip road and hammering the gas. It provides lots of nice usable power. If a Red-Top is better than this then I might have to drive one to see what I'm missing. I imagine a Cav/Cally turbo has bowel loosening acceleration!!

If i'm on a single lane then I slow down to wind them up, But most of the time just pull to one side and let them go.

my biggest gripe is on dual carriageways - i'm happily overtaking a looong line of hgv's in the outside lane - i'm doing upto 70 ;) odd if it's dry and clear when some idjit hurtles up your arse and warp factor snot then sits inches off your bumper waiting for you to move out of his way flashing there lights for good measure. Now someone comes up behind me, leaves a good distance and sits patiently for a while i'll usually drop inbetween trucks - however when the idjits give it a go I match speed with the biggest hgv in the row and sit there. then i sit there some more. absolutely priceless doing this for 30 miles down the a38 near me early in the morning :)

I cant stand people who jump lanes on roundabouts just to skip the traffic, I'll do my best so the cant get in. Most people don't argue with my beaten-up LDV convoy, because if they are in the wrong, I will happily stack my van in the side of a 50k beemer

My fave, when i know a road, is to slow right down coming up to a speed camera that I know will flash both sides of the raod, even if it only catches in one direction.

You would be surprised how many twonks are paying attention to getting past me and not the cameras :D

I cant stand people who flash you to move over on a dual carriageway or motorway, especially in the van and im overtaking, cause admittedly i cant overtake all that fast, so if they do flash i will continue to overtake then move over and give em the middle finger out the window, but only because where i sit slightly higher they get the finger just at eye level :p so they definatly see it :D
