That 4,500rpm problem sort of sorted...final help?

Easy chaps,
I had one of those mobile guys come out with all the ECU checking gear and we discovered that in fact my rev counter is reporting the wrong revs! Now this leaves me with a couple of hopefully quick questions:

What speed should you be able to do in a Vectra SRi 2.0 16V (P plate) in 2nd gear as the absolute max?

If the rev counter is reporting the wrong revs, which part is most likely faulty? Is it a sensor or a cable?

I am guessing cos I don't know, that the SRi has the F18C box

According to that I'm right, and it seems my rev counter is wrong!

So now I'm just left with finding out if its a sensor or cable...time to dig out that Haynes manual....
