View Full Version : Another Ex-police V6!!!

Right, sorry to do this, but a drastic change of plans forces this sale. As you lot may know, i`ve recently ( 3 weeks ago!!!!) bought Blotto`s V6 with the intention of sticking it in my Astra GSi, but due to unforseen circumstances ( new boat) i`m afraid i`m selling my fleet of Vauxhall`s to get a 4x4/raise cash for said vessel. The car drives fine with the only real issue being a new knock sensor required ( part supplied) and if the sale drags on i`ll get round to replacing this. The car`s now got a nice set of Cally V6 alloy`s with excellent tyres on them, no rust on it but it does have some Astra GSi bonnet vents cut in which aren`t really my thing TBH. I`ve been using a screwdriver on the locks as per Otto`s thread of lost keys and i`ve stuck a Pioneer stereo in it. I`ll give it a really good clean up tommorow and stick some piccies up on here. Although i`ve only had it a short period of time, i`ve spent about £150 on it so i`m looking for near to £550 to try and get back my outlay, as u all know i gave £400 for it as it stood, so i`m hoping, but i`ll take a small drop on it for a quick sale. Also my cavvy GSi will be up soon for the same price, piccies and spec to follow, thanks for looking, Vaughan.

Evenin` all!! Been cleaning up the V6 today and i`ve got a few photo`s for anyone that maybe interested, i`m quite surprised how nice the paintwork comes up. Otto had quite rightly removed those awful bumpstrips down the side, so i`ve buffed out the sticky residue left. As usual it started 1st time and ran fine. It`s taxed `til November and tested `til may. Well, here goes the piccies

As you can see from the photo`s she`s not a bad old girl!! I`ve highlighted the worst scratch on the bodywork and a fe scuffs, but it is 11 years old!!There`s been a drivers wing change at some point ( i think otto) and it must be off a GSi as there`s a couple of lugs to mount the kit on. As usual sensible offers will be considered, but no p/x unless it`s a 4x4 and if anyone wants the bit`s of bodywork done we can sort this out for a few quid extra.

they car looks cool any more info of it?in his absence, 5 speed manual, no rust, goes like the clappers and is tidy inside with no wear on the seats, switchable traction control, always starts first time ( i see no reason why this should change) and imho, is well worth the money!!
I dont regret selling her (well, in all honesty i kind of do) but my current drive is going to be practical for the next few months (space more than anything)

Thanks for the positive`s guy`s, it`s a bit of a gutter to see her go as i came out of work today and had to flash a rather quick ST170 focus out of my way.... and then i put it in 4th!!!! I`ll see what happens on here, but i don`t mind being stuck with it `cos it`s a good car, but i really want a new boat!!!!

probbo still be here, but you are about 500 miles from me mate. If your happy with that, then no probs, it`ll get you home fine. Oh and a cracking base to modify from, keep me posted if ur still interested due to the distance, regards Vaughan.

gibbyboy
21-09-2005, 11:35 AM
dont worry about the distance pal. my last corsa i had to taek to courtenay which was a long drive, adds fun the the venture and lets me feel the car. as long as the engines ok thats all that matters. if you do sell it then you can let me know by emailing me at gibbsgraeme@hotmail.com but il def have it

vaughant
21-09-2005, 03:13 PM
ok matey!! BTW engine is fine, quiet and VERY quick!! i think there`s about 3-4k left on the cambelt, as i said knock sensor could do with being replaced but this will probbo be done b4 you get here anyway, regards vaughan.

Hi m8,

what is the miles on it ?
any mot or paper work ?

cheers jason, whats the bhp any mods ?

vaughant
22-09-2005, 03:49 PM
in response to various q`s and PM`s. There`s tax `til November and MOT `til May 2006, a couple of recipts, logbook etc. BHP should be i think around 170, no mod`s other than backbox but it is ex-police and they have been known to have a little play, apparently! After all ST170 focus is same power/lighter car and this is quicker also quicker than my astra GSi by quite a long way, about the same as my modded cavvy GSi top end but slower off the mark ( F25 perhaps?), bit quicker midrange. Miles are 150k, engine is silent with no oil leaks/water leaks. As when otto owned it, the clutch release hydraulic thingy makes a wierd noise ( no effect to driveability), couple of scuffs and 2 minor dent`s in the drivers door but body V.clean. Like i said, if u like the car do the timing belt and use it for many years to come, if u just want the motor, sell all the other bits and basically have a free engine!! Thanks for the interest, Vaughan.

Hi all, as you may have seen from this thread gibbyboy is on for the car, but i have seen a Scooby estate that i fancy so would like this gone ASAP, so new price is £500 no offers or £450 with two alloys and two steelies and i keep the Cally V6 wheels. Gibbyboy these prices apply to you as well mate if u only need the motor etc. or as I said £500 all in, thanks.

01-10-2005, 07:52 PM
still for sale, can`t i tempt anyone? I struggled to find a manual one of these with a tidy motor so SOMEONE must want it!! I`m still holding out on gibbyboy, but i haven`t heard from him for a while and really need this shifted, so make me a sensible offer on it peeps!!!

Just come back from a 450 mile round trip in it, returning 30+ mpg through motorway/congestion and it never missed a beat. This is an absolute bargain for someone, i can`t stress enough how good it drives. It`s taxed `til the end of the month but i can re-tax at your cost if required. I`m shocked there`s no interest on here, i though people were crying out for V6`s in this condition and stupidly cheap price?

Gsi Boy
15-10-2005, 09:08 PM
how about 300 and you can have whatever you like off it to recover your costs, the wheels have got to be worth 1-150, i'll even break it for you, all i want is the motor, you'll see your 500 back easily.

16-10-2005, 10:04 PM

hi all, got the pm`s working now. Thanks for the replies, but i`m not desperate to give it away so if i don`t get a good offer above £350 for the basic car not including alloys then it maybe kept and used as a workhorse or the motor put in an astra estate or something like that. I`ll keep the post on here for a week or so then if there`s no genuine interest then admin can remove it at their leisure. Regard`s vaughan.

genuine interest was mine, 350 you said and we'd have a deal? i was trying to get the extra money for days and wanted to give you a deposit for the 350 you wanted, tried for days! never mind, bought a mint 79k one for a ton more, all the best with the sale.

I'm looking for a v6 cav or a 24v senator but must be more or less standard or be able to be put back to standard easily.not looking for minter but somthing tidy for everyday use if you know what i mean.i'm only 30mins away if if you've still got the car and its as good as you say i'll be interested

i can speak on behalf of vaughnt as its my old beast. Apart from the minor things that he has spoken about, its a solid car that, imho, would be awesome after a day or so, sorting out the little niggles. go's like the proverbial, clean inside and out and the engine is one of the best i have had the pleasure to drive. Believe me, had i had a drive in the new flat to do the work it needed, i woud still have her.

Odd, the only PM i had from you said that you couldn`t get more than £300 together? Oh well, crossed lines i suppose, glad you got one with such low mileage and for a good price, hope all goes well with it.

Hi rob, yes it`s still for sale, gsi boy has found a lower mileage one now for a good price. It hasn`t really had any mods done as such, a few of the switches inside are blue but i know mike bristol on here is keen on them if you wanted to swap them with his originals and get a bit of cash back. Only the alloys are changed but their still 15" with good tyres and imo look good on the car. If you`ve read the original advert you`ll know there`s only piddly little jobs to be done on it and it`s perfectly useable as is, i have been regularly. I`ll PM you my number and we can arrange a time/date for you to have a look, regards vaughan.

Can agree with what Blotto and Vaugh Say about the car! If i could of found a garage local to me [ which was actually secure , somethign which doesnt seem to happen around here ] then i would of had it!
Unfortunately i cant but would recommend it to anyone!!

And as Vaugh mentioned, am intrested in switches and few other blue bits if ya want it standard :Cool2:

i did say that about the cash yes, but the reason i was so desperate to get hold of you was that i had begged, stole (not quite) and borrowed to go the extra couple of quid, i was on my arse for various reasons! but had a cheque come through from churchill today paying out on my old car, and because it wasn't looking good with you i had to bite the bullet and buy something, yours is still the cheapest manual available at the mo and if anyone has got any sense they'll give the full asking price for it and then sell the wheels!

Sorry mate if you thought i was getting at you, that was never my intention, :shame: i just wasn`t sure if you`d sent the wrong pm to me, i appreciate that you tried to get the cash mate, i know what it`s like to be without a motor, real pain in the proverbial. This was my own fault for not repling quicker, typical of me!! It is very cheap, almost TOO cheap but i`m not greedy and it`s common knowledge on here that i only gave £400 for the car from Blotto (minus the alloys of course). As i said previously unless i sell it by say the end of next week i`m gonna SORN it and keep it `til i can find a good use for it, after all, i`ve got too tax my new Scooby first!!!

Had what i believe to be a complete and utter timewaster around yesterday, looked over the car for two hour`s, went on a big test drive, i even jacked it up and removed the front drivers wheel for him to inspect the slight clunk in the steering ( which turned out to be a slightly loose hub nut). He knocked me down to £375 for the car with the alloys plus the spare wheels etc. and begged me not too sell it before tommorow(today) and that he`d definitely let me know by 6pm last night and hey....i`m still waiting for the phone call!!!! The galling thing is someone else phoned in between with the cash in his hand, but as i`d given this boy my word he got a bit fcuked off and put the phone down!!! I`ve been looking through the doc`s on the car as well and they make for quite impressive reading, over the last few years it`s had a new steering rack, timing belt a few years ago, one crank sensor so it`s shaping up to be a good motor and if it dosen`t sell soon i may think about putting it in an engine damaged astra sport estate i`ve spotted in freeads!!

RANT OVER!!!!!!lolololololololololololololololololololo lol

If u think tho, its only generally people who are :
Well off that can afford a luxury at this time of year and not many of them would buy a Calibra or a V6 cav [ no offence intended ]
Or someone looking for specific car and who has saved the cash,,,

If your desperate then lower the price, or if like vaugn keep hold of it and try it next year!

Another chap came over today and had a looksey, is very interested but didn`t like the bonnet vents and loud(?????) exhaust, so he`s making a few enquiries tommorow and then has promised to get back to me on Sunday evening. How much MOT has it got and what actually needs doing?

Ta

mot `til next may (06) and needs very little doing, going through the whole car:

1. steering barrel/drivers lock due to blotto`s keys never being returned to him (this is the biggest job in my opinion). You can still lock it and open it, but so can anyone else with a screwdriver!!

2. knock sensor (included) sometimes plays up ( won`t allow engine to rev over 4K) but as u probably know this is quite common on these. I`ve been on two test drives and done about 100 miles in her overall this week and the problem hasn`t come back?

3. as previously mentioned, the timing belt hasn`t been done for a few years to my knowledge, so for your peace of mind something to think about.

4. Bit of a clunk when on full lock, i semed to have tracked this down to either a loose hub nut, or a bit of play in the front drivers wheel bearing, no groaning noise though.

5. that hydraulic-release-bearing-on -the-gearbox-thingy groans when you use the clutch, absolutely no detriment to driving

BUT
overall it`s a great car which at this price is just a giveaway. I`ve just bought a towing dolly this morning so i would like it gone now to help pay for that but as stated before, this car could be kept and used for that very purpose, as where i work things are looking a little bit grim and this could be a good little enterprise for me. Please, if you want it don`t expect to come down and get it for two conkers and a frog, £375 is rock bottom, cheapest manual in the UK!!!!

you can come down, cash in hand drive it back to wherever you want and i know it`ll get you there without a care in the world, there`s no rust on her, not even at the top of the windscreen, arches as they left the factory, it`s just a really good example. I`m off work today for all interested parties and my home number is 01792541954 or mobile 07855844602 `cos after tommorow i`m 6`til6 day`s and then 6`til6 nights. Kind regard`s, Vaughan.

Unless you've taken a deposit, then it's still for sale. Especially if the offer is very low. I had a woman and her sister spend 2 hours looking at a fiat 126 which I wanted £350 for. Eventually I said. Have you actually got any money or were you hoping I'd offer some sort of easy credit. Turned out she wanted me to hold on to it for 3 weeks until she got paid. I said. Okay. Fair enough, but if someone makes me a better offer before then it won't be here. I don't think she heard me cause 3 weeks later she came round to pick it up. Erm I've sold it. She was pissed off ?

Barsteward!!!! I`m sorry to mention that evil car then, but it looks like you could sort it easy enough. In fact, i`ve got a nice cav v6 motor for £375, the rest of the car`s included as well!!!

hi guy`s, it all seems a bit dead regarding this, so i`ll be taking it off for sale and SORN`ing it by the end of the week. Thanks for all your interest in it, but i`m not giving it away for £350 and i understand that it`s only 6 weeks `til xmas and a new motor often can`t be justified to other halves over the yuletide period!!! As stated, if anyone DOES want it, you have until Saturday to make genuine contact with me on the above numbers, no more PM`s please as they generally amount to very little. Thanx all, Vaughan.

I'd like my wife to have it, but she mubbles something about 'touching her 1.8 cav and dying'. If she writes it off between now and Christmas I WILL be in touch, but she drives like an old granny, so it's unlikely.

Hi all, decided not too sell now. I honestly feel that i`ve pitched it far too low, the crap for sale on autotrader/ebay for twice what i wanted makes me laugh and due to this i`m just attracting mushers ( our Swansea word for chav`s!!) who want it for a tenner!! Sorry to all the genuine cav lovers out there who for all intents and purposes couldn`t get the necessary wedge together, but i`m sure if you look hard enough you`ll find another one out there......... you`ll just have to pay about twice as much for it!!!!
