what cars is this engine likely to be in?

How would the fault codes be read?

I believe this was mainly fitted to Mk4 Astras and VectraBs, so probably Tech2 only.

Add OmegaB and Zafira, but it was also fitted to VectraC albeit with a different ECU.

the DI is the X20DTL

AS Ian said it's Tech2 only to read the codes.

I have a 99 VectraB 2.0tdi that the engine stopped and will not restart. According the car was showing 2 error codes P1635 which has cleared and P1630. Being new to Vauxhalls what is remedy C-14 ?

I had this on my old Vectra 2.0 Di and it needed a new pump. The fuel quantity solenoid is the only electronic bit inside the pump and from what I was told is the only bit that really goes wrong. Mechanically the pump is probably fine but without the electronic bit it won't work. There are about 5 different pumps and you will need the number off the pump to identify it. I was told that sometimes you can reset the code and it will work but you need to do it through the PSG5 connector which is on the pump itself, it can't be done successfully through the 16 pin DLC. The PSG5 is early CANBUS but you can communicate directly with the ECU on the pump instead of the engine management ECU but you need the interface box to do it. If you have a local Bosch Car Service agent they may be able to help you but it's no guarantee, just a possibility. Unfortunately rule of thumb is that the pumps last about 50,000 miles which is unfortunate because these engines are just about bulletproof apart from this bit. The unfortunate bit for me was that because mine was a really early one (1996, they aren't recognised on most scan tools as being aroung until 1997) it had a different PSG5 connector so I couldn't plug the Bosch KTS650 in, with a later one you may (possibly) have a bit more luck. If it works it's probably time for a change as even if it does it won't last forever unless you either fit a new pump or have the fuel quantity solenoid changed, which isn't much cheaper.

Hi Guys,

I have a 2.0dti astra. But i can't seem to find anything to read the codes.

Depends what you want it for, there are plenty of bits of diagnostic kit that will but they are expensive if you are just wanting it for yourself. The OE Vauxhall kit is a Tech 2 made by Vetronix and will cost you the thick end of £3000 with the CANDi module which you need for motors on CANBUS systems. There are a number of aftermarket scan tools that will read it though but you are still looking at a good wedge of cash to buy one as they do other vehicles as well.

Hi Mobi,

Our Vauxhall-specific tool will read them, do actuator tests, etc.

A lot cheaper than a Tech2!
