do you have any idea what the fault code p1555 is please

ben lee

p1555 is tps/maf senser implausible signial.

Mark T

I take it you have the Z18XE?

it's a differnt ECU to the X20XEV/X18XE.

P1555 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Load Signal not Plausible with Engine Load

The control unit recognises the malfunction of the circuit via an internal evaluation logic.

Hi just wanted to ask how do you flash out codes following engine magagment light comming on. :crying_2:

Ive heard something about using a paper clip in the diagnostic socket, but which pins to short or if this is right or not.

I have a 1996 1.8 GLS Vectra petrol

Thanks

Justin.

Thanks for this but i am still having problems this is what i get when doing the paperclip test

I short pins 5 & 6 switch on ignition once the system has checked this is what the engine managment light does...

10 flashes pause then 1 Flash (11)
2 flashes pause (2)
10 flashes pause (10)
10 flashes pause then 5 flashes (15)
10 flashes pause then 5 flashes (15) (again)
10 flashes pause then 1 flash (11) (again)
10 flashes pause then another 10 flashes (stuck here)

then it repeats the same sequence over again

My car is an N reg vectra 1.8 gls but i looked on top buzz site and it says something about p codes but the way i am getting codes is nothing like they sugest.

Either way looks like i have got a few probs with the car i noticed i get (what i think) code 11 twice and code 15 twice and am stuck on the 10 flashes pause then another 10 is this 20 or 2 code 10`s

Any help would be great, i am determind this car will not get the better of me

Thanks for all your help

Justin

10 flashes is 0

The codes are 4 digits, and are flashed only once, there is no separator.

I'd recommend getting a tape recorder, or digital equivalent, and read out the number of flashes as they come up.

It's easy to get lost when trying to right these codes down.

I keep getting a code of 1600 on my 96 vectra gls and on the list it says Internal Control Modual or as the list in this forum (reprogram or replace ECU) :crying_2:

I would like to know if this error be thrown up due to other problems.

Just sounds a bit drastic.

If anyone can help this would be great, do you think vauxhall will make a car without sensors on...thought not its making them loads of money!!!

the thing that i cant understand is the car is running ok apart from jerking and stalling and ecu light on dash, please can someone help as i dont know how to reprogram the ecu

Thanks

Justin

Hey guys, I have a 1997 2.0l sri vectra, i know about the paper clip trick to find fault codes but dont know which is pin 5 and which is pin 6!
Does anyony have a diagram for this please? I dont wanna stick the paper clip in the wrong pins and find myself pricing up a new ecu!

Here are the flash sequence,
10 flashes then 1
10 flashes then pause
10 flashes then 1
10 flashes then 1

Do i take it as the code is 1011?
If so, what does this mean?

01 0 01 01 as they are in 4s it's 0100 and 101?

Should be 8 flashes so you've missed one. Easily done on the later ECUs.

get someone to write them down as you call out each one.

Take your eyes off to write them down, you miss one!

can u clear these faults without a tech 2 or will it allways be there even if the fault has cleared?

Mark T

It will clear eventually on it's own, if the fault doesn't come back.

Hi, Im having similar problems with a 1998 1.8 Vectra ecotec petrol I have. It starts and runs "ok" (bit rough at idle though) but seems very gutless, doesn't seem to pull too well. I've done the paperclip test and got the following results :

10, 5, 10, 10, 10, 1, 3, 10, 10, 3, 4, 10 - then it goes around again!

I am i right in assuming you split these into groups of 4, so :

10,5,10,10 = 0500 (No vehicle speed signal) - where does this come from?!

10,1,3,10 = 0130 (02 sensor out of range) - assuming something on the exhaust lambda sensor.

&

10,3,4,10 = 0340 (Camshaft sensor incorrect signal)

Am I right here or have I over-looked something?!

Thanks,

Matt

Speed signal comes from front left ABS on Vectras.

Cam sensor is very common.

Thanks for your help.

Wouldnt the ABS lamp be on if the front left sensor was duff tho?

I have a 1.8 xei vectra, and have shuddering at cruising speed.
I checked codes and got :05050110010005050110010005050110,and continues in same sequence.
My question is : where is start of codes,is it 0505, or 0501.
I see there is a sequence of batches of 4 numbers
does anyone know what the error codes are please.

Smilermick
26-09-2006, 11:16 PM
OK, i figured it out.
0505 = Idle air control voltage
0110 = Intake air temp
0100 = MAF sensor.

now what i cannot understand is that there is a new Idle air control, and a new MAF fitted, and the only problem that the car has now is that it hesitates at cruising speed
would it sort the problem if i were to just get a new intake air temp sensor ?

anyone any ideas ?

hi there new to this site looking for advice about my vectra 1.8 ecotec. bought the car with cambelt faliure caused by the water pump callapseing repaiped all the bent valves and put it all back together again. tried to start it back fired once then just turnd over and over. checked for compression, compression is good checked fuel plugs are wet, checked spark, that was ok. so i came to this site and found some very usefull info paper clip test wich has told me code 0505 idle air control voltage high or low, 0110 intake air temp high or low, 0340 camshaft sensor incorrect signal. what i need to know is how to fix these problems and is this the reason for my car not starting thanx

i was told that the pins that i was meant to use were counted down from the gearstick and was there for ages last night trying ,one electric shock later and a drive to the local petrol station with no indicators (was fun) for fuses and i was back in business .i see from that picture that i should be counting from the side nearest the passenger seat up the way is that correct? thank you

Are these the faults?

P0110 Intake Air Temperature Voltage High C-11
P0110 Intake Air Temperature Voltage Low C-11
and
P0340 Camshaft Sensor Incorrect Signal C-15

if so whats next, if they need replacing where are they located?

intake air temp sensor is in the air intake pipe between the iar filter & the maf sensor (small round sensor with a plug on it )
camshaft sensor is behind the timing belt cover.

Hi guys, I have a 97 vectra 1.8 16v (Simtec 56.5). I have found the 16 pin socket between the handbrake and the gear lever. I have read all the posts here and managed to check my engine fault codes using the paper clip method. Is there any way to check the ABS fault codes from this same socket or is there a separate 1 specially for the ABS? If I can check the ABS fault codes from the same socket, which pins do I need to bridge? If not, does anyone know where the ABS diagnostic socket is? Cheers.

So there is no way of checking the ABS fault codes other than taking it to a garage then or using your own diagnostic tec device?

DarrylB

Are these codes the same for the Z18XE that I have in my 02 Zafira?

I'm also sure you all know it by now, but I only found out today - Holding the brake pedal and the accelerator down while turning on the ignition flashes out the codes on the 02 plate Zafira (which has no connector in pin 6 on the diagnostic socket) - no need for a paper clip!

Sorry to go off topic:
And can I add a massive thanks to all contributors to this forum and migwib - I'm pretty sure it was Mark T who gave me the pin-out I needed to wire up the cruise control about 3 years ago!

Have fun,
Darryl.

Hi all

I hope someone can help me, i'm having a bit of a problem with my 2.0gls T reg '99'. I've only owned it about a month and brought it being told it needed a new maf sensor. Anyway the eml light would come and go and i never dont a paperclip test so dont know what codes there were. When the eml comes on i lose power and cannot go over 4500rpm, the car is sluggish and cuts out. When the light is off i have full power and car runs like a dream, but from cold for the first few miles it does seem a bit lumpy/spluttery? So anyhow i got a maf sensor off ebay plugged it in and away i went. The eml light was off and i thought hooray but few yards done the road it came back on!? So i thought enoughs enough and done the test from which i got these codes:

0335 - crank sensor
0340 - camshaft sensor
0351 - ignition coil 1 & 4 ???
0352 - ignit5ion coil 3 & 4 ???
1230 - ?????

I dont know if this makes a difference but the exhaust is blowing from near the cat and back box and smells quite rich?
Can anyone advise me on where to start, and if i need to change everything?

Thanks for reading and helping i hope ;)
