Cheers mate, Is it necessary to use the bush removal tool, or could I improvise?
I only need to replace one rear bush you see for the MOT and don't wanna fork out for the tool.
cheers,

Would this be the same on my car?

Neither link works now. Can anyone give a synopsis of the procedure and clarify whether an improvised tool can be made/used?
Cheers.

tbh it seemed simple enough... i just bashed them out and bashed them back in again. I did drop the whole subframe off the back though to make it easier. also the large bush on the trailing arm has to be pressed in - i just used a bench vice for that but if you dont catch the entire face of the bush you risk splitting it in two....

A hydraulic press at the local garage provided the answer. Cheers

Hi
im just about to purchase a vectra (face lift MK2) and it requires the rear bushes changing, does any one have another link to the "How to" also what are the best type of bushes to get (cheap but not so crap) or what sort of price would i expect to pay for a garage to do the work .
thanks
Chris

4 years ago i had a dealer do a '96 VecB for the NCT - cost me €600 at the time to do a good job - convert that to todays prices and into sterling...
anyway ive just done a facelift and the ones to get are
(1) the big one on the rear trailing arm (2No.)
(2) the bushes above and below the centre of the rear hub (4No.)
(3) the little ones holding the anti roll bar - rear and front!!! (4No.)
I dont know about different manufacturers - superflex and powerflex are supposed to sell longer life and stiffer parts but they dont have all of the bushes - i just went to a MF and got Bilstein spurious - total about €200

Excellent site Mark T. I have the usual veccy problem of 'kangarooing'. Previously, I have got away with cleaning the idle control valve and the throttle body (including the 2 holes). However, this time it has not worked. I believe that egr valve cleaning / blanking is fairly straight forward but am reluctant to pull things apart without guidance as I need the car every day. I am sure that there will be a 'how 2' on the site somewhere, but it would be very handy if your site incorporated this (and possibly the IAC cleaning).
