ease the ashtray forward, and disconnect the two wires for the ciggy lighter
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/erroneusbogz/P1010410.jpg
this bit comes off by pulling at the bottom of it gently, you will hear 8 clicks its just coming loose, now get a thin butter knife, wrap it in masking tape and run it up the sides of the dial cover while easing it forward
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/erroneusbogz/P1010415.jpg carefully mask off this bit, then attack it with 100 wet and dry sand paper, you just want to dull the walnut down a wipe over with a tack cloth and spirit wipe, let it dry then 4 coats of plastic primer.
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm255/erroneusbogz/P1010416.jpg
sanded primer applied, first coat of paint, just light applications DO NOT RUSH IT.....leave 2 hours between coats.mine finished with seven coats and sanding down between them, the walnut dial surround gets the same treatment.
