Hi i was asked to copy this here from my first posting.
I had a problem with my heater being a 1 speed fan (Hurricane setting only).
So prior to becoming a member i checked out this excellent forum :D and found the answer to be the big green resistor in the dash.(A very common fault i have gathered).
So i have purchased the BG resistor from Vauxhall at a cost of £23.20 plus VAT and decided to fit it myself.
(A 2yr old car out of warranty due to mileage).
I am posting this just to let people know how easy it is to fit yourself if you don't want to pay main dealer hourly rates.
Undo 3No screws (torx type) holding top of glove box to dash(just under chrome strip on my dash in glove box recess).Support glove box and undo two remaining screws near the bottom of the glove box door.
Carefully lift out towards seat and unplug glovebox light.
This then enables you get at the resistor.(pull passenger fully back for better access.
You will not be able to fully see the resistor as i have read on some postings(other models).
It is situated adjacent to the centre console (underneath)and all that is visible is the white plastic plug part of the resistor.(You would know what i mean if you took the new part out of the box).
Firstly you unplug the wires into it.(squeeze plug at both ends and pull.It is a bit stiff to remove)
Then you push the left hand side of the resistor towards the centre console and it drops out.(Mine was corroded where the resistor is attached to the big green thing, no idea what the big green thing is).
When fitting new resistor be sure to push resistor to left to lock the four lugs and stopping it falling out.Rest of procedure is in reverse.
Hope this helps anyone wishing to undertake this as i am no mechanic and could not find any help with a Vectra this new.
