Identifying a ZF Vectra steering rack:

Vectras have two possible makes of steering rack and this determines some fittings - so identification is useful. It will either be a ZF or Saginaw in make.

Below is a picture of a ZF rack on a 1999 2.5 v6:

At the bottom of the column housing (vertical housing in the middle of the picture) is a ZF stamp - its not immediately clear to the eye but when you compare it to the ZF logo you see it more clearly - a sideways ZF.

This picture is looking under the front of the car, facing to the back. It is a bit hidden - if you are unsure you can confirm by flattening a piece of tissue against the logo and it will be clear in the impression.
