egr valve tigra

hi all

ive just had my cylinder head repaired and the crank reground and new bearings installed

the engine management light keeps stays on all the time and apparently i need a new egr valve at a cost of £200

ive been told however that if i dont get it done it wont cause any harm - the light will just stay on

is this true?

after spending £1200 on the engine i dont want to spend anymore i just want to get rid so im hoping it will be ok without

these are bloody awful to change...have a look around the back of the engine and see if the guys that did the job have refitted the eleccy pug back on.....it happens.

if it is on...u could remove the valve and clean her out with carb cleaner and refit which may work..., the internals seize up with carbon, .short term anyway....

but be warned they are horrid to remove and refit....

i've done loads..and i still hate em.

you can drive it as is..but she'll run orrible, jerky etc..and it not exactly clever.

apparently the guys that did the job cleaned it but no luck

they have said that if i want it doing i can get the part and they will fit it for free (they've taken pity on me as im now skint!)

does anyone know the cheapest place to get one of these from?
