Had to replace this motor on my 1998 Vectra b CDX, after I finally found where it lives. Hope this helps someone else.

1) Remove dashboard under tray cover (drivers side).
2) Undo securing pin and remove footwell heater duct.
3) Laying down in footwell, (found it easier on my stomach) look under dash at the side of the Electronic Climate Control box (helps to illuminate with a torch), you will see the adjuster motor and the blend flap arm. These should have a small metal rod between them, if not (as in my case) something has snapped. Probably the tiny plastic securing arm on the motor itself. Even if you're only missing the metal rod, it's a whole new unit from VX, £115 + VAT if you're interested.
The motor only has 2 securing screws (phillips head) at diagonal opposite corners. Undo these and remove the power supply plug and it virtually falls out.

Re-fitting is the same in reverse. Though I would suggest hooking it up to the power first and holding the motor in place, then running the full range with the temp adjuster buttons, as I found that the replacement hit a plastic bulkhead, whose only purpose is to hold the under tray in place and nearly snapped the arm off.
This meant that i had to take the motor off the backing plate, so that I could move the arm a bit further up, with the gearing freed up. This did solve the problem and it works fine now.
