Hi guys . Do i need any special vauxhall tools to do a head gasket change on a vectra 2L 16v ? I've done cavalier 8v head no problem ie. i have pullers , torque wrenchesetc
Is a 16v head gasket change THAT much more complicated to do than an 8 valve
Is it wise to get the head machined as a matter of course ?
cheers :D

no just take it steady. if youve done 8v then 16 isnt that much more difficult apart from the cam timing

Get a camshaft locking tool, get a set of female and male torx sockets

big one's for the head bolt's just buy a rail of them less than 15 quid in most motorfactors,if the gasket's failed the head will need skimming

Bit of a hot topic that one, only needs skimming if its warped, a decent engine specialist will be able to measure it.

you can use a pair of molegrips to lock the cams. it is a bit frowned upon but ive done a few this way and doesent damage owt

A Draper Cam locking tool is only £4.50, why risk damaging the sprocket for a few pounds?
