Breaking my Facelift 1999 Satin Red Vectra V6 SRi

I'm getting it back early next week but will only have a further month or so to strip it before it has to be confirmed as destroyed.

So, my provisional break list of the easy/ saleable stuff is as follows:-

- VDO CDR500 CD head unit £SOLD- not a mark on it.

- SRi Multispoke Alloy Wheels x4 - £50 - OK condition, some scratches on them all, but not noticeable unless you look up close, no kerbing, no damage from accident. From memory, rear tyres are good (Goodyear Eagles), front don't have much left on them (Toyo Proxes')

- F23 Gearbox - £100 - std clutch and flywheel, 74k on motor.

- Rear Exhaust Manifold - £25

- GSi Cams - £100 - I'll check what combination.

- Bare motor - £75 - no gearbox, no cams, no manifolds etc - effectively block/ sump/ crank & pistons etc/ heads

After that, the regular stuff:-

- Metal Cam Covers
- V6 mount Alternator
- Inlet Plenum set
- EGR valve in perfect working order
- Starter
- Exhaust Flexi section with CAT
- Rear SRi/ Irmscher style Spoiler

For you Gary, Postage only and the price of a pint  ... course, that assumes I can get it off - your 'unbutchered' line was a bit closer to home than you might think - I had to destroy the one from the Cav I broke last time ...

no idea what the engineer meant saying the engine sounded rough - it sounds peachy - one of the pulleys (powersteering pump more than likely) is rubbing, but that's it ... sounds pukka ... boy have I missed the sound of that Remus/ Magnex combo ... :lmao:

What condition are wheels in James ? tyres and that .

uglymonkey
20-10-2007, 06:51 PM
tyres are a non issue - fronts don't have much tread and one has a slow puncture - the rears would last maybe another thousand miles, not brilliant so I've not mentioned them ... put it this way, If I was buying the wheels myself, I'd be putting tyres on all four as soon as possible

I've not pulled the motor yet - I was going to have them off after pulling the motor ... but if gnome has the covers, I;ll have a go at removing them on the same visit to the engine bay :D

Bugger :(

Thanks anyway

Trying to solve a problem, and the idle control valve didn't cure it.... so I think it has to be the MAF Sensor.

I have a feeling I'll get these out in any case - theres a couple of people after the cam covers so it would make sense and be a fairly straight forward job now that the inlet plumbing is already off.

I have the original 2.5 cams to go back in and can nick the plastic cam covers off the cav motor I have on the stand for the time being.

If you are under some pressure:mmmm do not forget to set the timing, and paint on new timing marks, before you release the cambelt.

subframe is back on, thanks Dave/ Lee ...

interior is now full, and I mean FULL of various V6age, CXE and XXE ... block, pistons, auto boxe ... etc etc etc ... old spare tyres ... everything else that was pulled off the motor but which wasn't sold ...

I've hung on to one of the Sri's heads for a laugh - I'll polish it up and hang it on a wall, and a piston from the old CXE I had on the stand.

just need to get myself two 5 stud wheels from the scrappy and then the scrapman come come and take it away, nothing (worthwhile) left from it after Dave's visit ... save maybe just the front and rear calipers and carriers I have in the garage in gase anyone wants to do a big disk conversion on their Cavs ...
