I'm a newbie to these forums, but one thing i thought i'd share is the use of the above products as I've not seen them mentioned too much in other How2's that i've browsed. This may seem like common sense to some, but thought i'd share this for the less experienced mechanic :)
Copper grease and brake cleaner are your friends!
If you're doing a job and have a thread that's exposed to the elements (and even if it's not) that you may want to undo again at some point, copper grease it!
I was recently replacing the shocks on my Cav and where i'd not too long back done the CV gaiter on the nearside it all came apart like a dream - where i'd previously greased it up... the offside was a bit of a bitch!
Handy little tip... drill a hole in the top and stick a paintbrush in it for ease of use.

Also v useful for other stuff such as stopping brakes sqeeling, just coat the back of the pads.
As for brake cleaner... it's awsome stuff. Excellent degreaser/cleaner for a lot more than just brakes, pretty much anything in fact. A while back i got a load of tar out of some trousers with it and also cleaned off some nasty paint from my glasses without melting them! (you may wish to try this on an old pair first tho!) ;)
I recommend the holts stuff personally, powerful spray!
If you think this post is a little too basic/stupid then feel free to prune, but just my 2 cents :)
I only stumbled across these forums looking for the ECU dash flash codes which turned out to be ISCV needing a clean, but am impressed by the info on here. great site! and sorry aobut the long post :O
