I’ll come to the topic of the thread in a moment.

Day started at 4am for me, was making good time until an accident on the M6 held up the traffic for almost two hours. Someone had died apparently in RTA and the police had to mark all the road out, great start.

Just managed to make a drivers briefing in time for the 9:40 track session, thanks for AndyH for quickly taking all the contents of my car into his boot, cheers it was very much appreciated.

Went into pit lane, no soon as I entered ECU light came on great, no time to do much now. Started stop / starting car a few times but it would not go away. So frustrating, watch the video and hear the engine bouncing of 4,500rpm, in the end I pretty much gave up and went around in 4th and 5th.

Video below.

Then I raced over to book the Exige experience, booked the passenger ride, and the driving one, I thought track session had gone to s-hit at least this will be good.

Passenger ride was great, and I picked up some things (well lots actually) that I was doing wrong on track, driving the Exige on brooklands was great stuff also. Drove it better this year than last, so the track days must be paying off, instructor gave me extra laps.

Watched the drift racers for a while, perved at some of the show girls, found a great spot watching a few of them playing twister. Spoke to some Integra owners, had a good look around inside and out an Integra DC5, very nice people the Honda owners are. Watched some more track and drift cars, then came back and everyone had gone off the stand apart from my Cavalier still sat there. Stood next to the Cavalier, and watched everything shut down.

That’s it really then I went home. Just to say I think the stand was more varied this year, and as I club the car are getting more diverse, well done.

Took hardly any pictures, I always think everyone else will take the pictures of most things!

Thanks for the springs mate.

I'm not too sure about that camera mount, it seems too shaky, plus it's mounted in a dark area so the outside looks a bit too bright at times. You haven't done too badly despite the engine power drop

Well, yeah, not bad considering...

but I bet you're wishing you had an Exige now... how did that feel for you?

Not bad for limp mode! ....get the paper clip ready!
I have a spare crank sensor and cam sensor!...

Glad you liked the springs. I know what you’re saying about camera shaking, it’s quite honest to how the cars being run, do you see me being shaken up and down in the seat. It’s all due to running the rear extremely stiff, makes the car more neutral and corrects the terrible cavalier weight balance. All very crude but somehow works.

Well, yeah, not bad considering...

But I bet you're wishing you had an Exige now... how did that feel for you?

Exige is nice but I would never own one for road use, far too dangerous for my humble driving skills. Did have it under steering / over steering depending on how it’s driven, its clear RWD setup is superior.

I may take the offer of the cam sensor. Saying this I think the problem is due to me using clear waxoyl in the engine bay, and the wax running into the cam sensor plug! - car was standing in traffic getting into trax. Will clean it out and see if that cures things.

The Elise is a 'little' calmer... 1.8 IIRC... Still goes through the corners rather well though.

Aye, RWD, better weight distribution, being 3 inches off the floor and a nice Lotus-engineered suspension setup... :lmao:

Elise was my dream car while at uni many years ago. Little put off by those cars to be honest, there is someone at work who had both an Accord Type R and Elise, and says the Accord Type R would match the Elise in corners. I went out in a VX220 over some wales roads last year and was not that impressed either.

Only last month I spoke to an owner of an Elise S1, and he said his Pug 306 could be taken around corners just as quick, he admitted he could not drive it however! Would still have to drive a standard one to know for sure. Speaking to one of the instructors at Silverstone the Elise S2 is more user friendly then the S1.

Andy, did taping over the split in air intake make any difference?

Drove one a couple of weeks ago in anger at bruntingthorpe - great track cars but I wouldn't want one for every day driving as you are basically sitting inside a tin box - not a bad thing but for the money you pay for one it's not me idea of every day motoring if you know what i mean
