View Full Version : Wanted for borrowing, 8v camshaft removal tool

Does anyone have one of the camshaft removal tool for the 8v, the type that were available from ebay that dont require the cylinder head bolts to be removed?
i dont really want to have to buy another headgasket etc, ive only had this one fitted about a year
needed to convert my c18nz using a seh cam, which is getting purchased tomorrow (29/03)
ill buy if it doesnt cost the earth

EDIT: its proper name is a 'valve play compensator' tool ive discovered, i may buy/make one of these

if you drain the water out of the system before you atrat you should be able to loosen the bolts and do the changeover without causing any trouble.
i used to do it that way years ago when i was changing the camshafts over on the earlier nova's astra's and cav's without any tools.

doing it that way is a bodge and can lead to early headgasket failure and i dont fancy changing another when mine was only done 8 mths ago

no need to be sorry i know it's a bodge but so is using a tool to simulate the compression from 10 headbolts...
i hope it works out either way.

all that tool does is push the valve down, so the follower can be removed which is done one at a time, it dont simulate compression from 10 headbolts fella
