Hi all, just did this so I thought I'd post it up as a how to.

My stabiliser bar on my V6 was fubar:

As you can see the rubber is split all the way around and you can see where it's started to wear against the bolt that goes through it.

I pulled the metal insert and it came out in my hand! Well and truly stuffed

I bought some of this stuff from an online builders merchants after reading the spec

It has a shore a hardness of 60 which is good, but still retains 20% elasticity so you wont get your teeth rattled out your gums with the vibration from the engine.

I cut away all the old rubber from inside

I filed it back to the metal to give it a bit of a keying surface for the new stuff (I did try it with a dremmel to start but it STANK!)

Got some electricians tape to tape off the bottom so the stixall didn't fall out before the skin had formed

I put one bit of tape all the way around to hold the insert in position

Here it is just before filling
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a103/MartynJones/V6/just-before-filling.jpg

This is after filling and going over it with an offcut of wood (wasn't too worried about that little air pocket)
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a103/MartynJones/V6/end.jpg

After 5 mins turn it over and take the tape off the back - was worried that 'stixall' meant I'd be left with red tape stuck to the bottom. It pretty thick stuff so it didn't all drip out the bottom when i turned it over. I took the bottom tape off and smoothed it over with another offcut.

Thats it! The stuff cures pretty slowly so don't expect it to be ready in a day. I waited 5 days before I put it back in the car and it was pretty solid then (they reckon it cures 2-3mm in 24 hours).

All cost me the princely sum of 8 quid rather than don't know what from Vx.

So far it looks very good. I gave it a good going over before i put it on and it feels very good. I'm going to fill my other mounts with this stuff to stiffen them up a bit.

I've done solid engine mounts in the same way (filling all the gaps)

They work quite well for a time, but they do part company eventually.

the Stabiliser has no load bearing so should last forever really.

I did both the gearbox mounts in the same way and i haven't noticed a difference. Still need to do the crank pulley end though.
